What I did in 2022

I took some classes to help motivate me, and also learned some craft techniques through generous help of more experienced people. So I cast the creative net rather wide and hope to pull it in a bit in 2023. I have been learning wheel-throwing and have been able to make some nice mugs… and some horrible ones as well. I have learned to do basic wood turning and have been making pens and wooden spinning tops – and turning down a lot of logs to to wood chips. I also tried my hand at pastels and have a love/hate relationship with it. I love that you can shift a color through some delicate color lines over other colors. I love the visual blending of the pigment, but I hate the high-maintenance end result that makes it hard to frame! sigh…. And I returned to acrylic painting and have been really focusing on warm and cool colors that help communicate our 4 new england seasons. I also took a loss wax metal casting class at Stonybrook in Jamaica Plain and, well, the end result was a loss – the casting failed and my wax forms, well, melted into obscurity. I will try again.
